The buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) movement has become common amongst online shoppers. Sezzle gives you the liberty to buy now and pay later thank’s to its interest-free instalment plans.
When you place an online order using Sezzle, it pays the merchant in full instantly – so the merchant has their funds and can process the payment and ship your order like normal. Sezzle then calculates what re-payment plan to offer you. As little as 20-25% is due at the time you purchase! The remaining amount gets spread over three or more equal instalments, all two weeks apart. Sezzle will charge no processing fees or interest – as long as you pay off on time, you will pay for what you ordered!
Sezzle operates similarly to PayPal Pay in 4 and Affirm. Their checkout is easy for everyone! Shop at a merchant that offers Sezzle as a payment. Once you’re ready to check out, select Sezzle as a payment method, you will get a prompt to create an account, you’ll need to enter some personal details, and Sezzle will run a soft credit check.
What happens if you miss a Sezzle re-payment?
Missed a Sezzle re-payment? Even though Sezzle sends you reminders via email and text, mistakes happen, and you might miss a re-payment.
But don’t worry because Sezzle allows you to reschedule instalments. Each order comes with a free reschedule, and if you want to reschedule once you’ve used your free one, you have to pay a $5 fee to get another two reschedules. Sezzle suggests rescheduling two days in advance because once payment has started processing, Sezzle cannot change it.
Is there a minimum purchase limit?
Sezzle does not have a minimum purchase limit but, the merchants using Sezzle can set their minimums.
Is there a maximum purchase limit?
As for maximum, Sezzle does set limits on how much customers can buy using their service. Your limit depends on factors like your order history, how long you’ve been using the service etc.
Do products bought using Sezzle ship after the first payment?
Unlike other BNPL services, products bought using Sezzle ship as soon as you pay the first instalment. Sezzle pays the merchant in full instantly – so the merchant has their funds and can process the payment and ship your order like normal, which means you owe the remaining amount to Sezzle instead of the retail store.
Which companies accept Sezzle?

How Secure is Sezzle?
Security is crucial to the team at Sezzle. Sezzle is certified up to Level 1 (highest achievable level) in PCI compliance, the industry-standard method of measuring security.
Does Sezzle affect my credit score?
Sezzle runs a soft credit check to set a credit limit for your account. This check is different from a hard credit check as it does not affect your credit score at all. If your credit history isn’t doing too well, Sezzle may decline your purchase.
If your credit is looking good and Sezzle still denies you, potentially it might be because:
- Your purchase amount exceeds your limit.
- You entered incorrect payment/personal information when you signed up.
- You have missed previous payments or have an unpaid order.
Does Sezzle charge any hidden fees?
As long as you pay your instalments on time, Sezzle won’t charge you any fees. You will not pay any costs if you pay off your instalment earlier, either. However, Sezzle will charge you if you fail to make a payment on time or have to reschedule an instalment payment more than once. If you fail to pay or reschedule more than once, Sezzle will add the fees to your regularly scheduled instalment payment, so if you see a separate charge from your bank or credit card company, it is not from Sezzle.
How do returns work when using Sezzle?
When you return an item, Sezzle will get the refund because Sezzle paid for the first transaction. Then Sezzle will refund the amount back to you, starting with the last instalment you paid and then working backwards towards the rest.
If you had multiple instalment plans and want to refund all/multiple of them, Sezzle will return your older instalments first and then work towards your newer ones.
In a case where the merchant refunds you in the form of store credit, coupons or cash, it won’t impact your Sezzle balance, and you’ll need to keep making Sezzle payments as initially agreed.
Does Sezzle Report Your Activity to Credit Bureaus?
For a standard Sezzle user, credit reporting isn’t involved and won’t be an issue. But if you wish to use Sezzle to build your credit history, you can register for Sezzle Up’s revolving line of credit.
Sezzle Up reports your balance and your payments to the three national credit bureaus monthly; as long as you’re paying your instalments on time, the reporting should substantially increase your credit score. Keep in mind if you miss a payment for 30 or more days, Sezzle will report it, and your credit score might get hurt in the process.
